The Business Systems Team at our software company is the backbone of our technological infrastructure, tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining the systems that drive our business forward. This dynamic team operates at the intersection of technology and business, leveraging cutting-edge solutions to solve complex problems and optimize operations. The Salesforce.com System Developer role is a pivotal part of this team, responsible for developing and customizing Salesforce solutions that enhance our sales, marketing, and customer service efforts. By ensuring data integrity, security, and seamless integration with other business systems, this role supports our strategic objectives and contributes to our overall success.

Success in this role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills. A successful Salesforce.com System Developer will have deep knowledge of the Salesforce platform and its capabilities, including hands-on experience with customization, configuration, and integration. They must be adept at problem-solving, with the ability to design innovative solutions that address complex business needs. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for working effectively with stakeholders across the organization and leading projects to successful completion. Additionally, a successful candidate will be agile, continuously learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies to drive improvement and innovation within the Salesforce ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Salesforce Solutions Development: Implement high-quality Salesforce solutions that align with business requirements and IT strategies. Create scalable and maintainable solutions to meet the evolving needs of the business.

  • Customization and Configuration: Utilize Lightning Components, Apex, Visualforce, and API integrations to enhance the functionality and user experience of Salesforce environments. Implement custom solutions to streamline operations.

  • Data Management and Security: Ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of data within Salesforce, adhering to data protection regulations. Manage user roles, security settings, access levels, and sharing rules effectively.

  • Integration: Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other business systems using middleware tools and APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality across platforms.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize system performance, implementing best practices to improve efficiency and user experience.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand requirements, provide Salesforce expertise, and deliver solutions that support business objectives.

  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for system designs, configurations, and customizations. Develop and conduct training sessions for end-users and administrators.

  • Project Management: Lead Salesforce projects from initiation to implementation, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Certified Platform Developer, Certified Platform App Builder, Certified System Architect) are highly preferred.

  • 10+ years hands-on experience in the Salesforce ecosystem, with a preference for certifications.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce products (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, CPQ, Revenue Intelligence, CRM Analytics, Community).

  • Strong understanding of SaaS Go-To-Market technology.

  • Experience leading and managing the SDLC within an agile framework.

  • In-depth experience with administration and customization of Enterprise SaaS process and technical support solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

What to expect in the first 30 days:

  • Understand Docker virtues and values.

  • Get acquainted with the GTM technical landscape, and the goals and priorities of the systems team.

  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Familiarize with ongoing projects, tasks, and responsible teams.

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of Docker’s revenue systems architecture.

What to expect in the first 90 days:

  • Identify and prioritize technical debt areas.

  • Develop a clear quarterly roadmap, including immediate areas for improvement.

  • Assess and prioritize backlog items, considering business benefits and project ROI.

  • Create a 12-18 month project roadmap in collaboration with Revenue Operations and other stakeholders.

  • Validate and document existing and proposed solutions with comprehensive proof of concept strategies.

  • Lead hands-on development and execution of system solutions that meet business needs.

  • Engage in technology stack selection, vendor negotiations, and framework strategies.

  • Serve as the primary contact for all system technology design questions and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

  • Mentor and develop two additional subject matter experts within the team.

What to expect in the first year:

  • Successfully deploy major Salesforce system enhancements and new functionalities that demonstrate a significant return on investment and improved user satisfaction.

  • Establish a robust framework for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) for Salesforce developments, reducing deployment times and increasing release quality.

  • Achieve a measurable improvement in system performance and user engagement through targeted optimizations and user feedback-driven enhancements.

  • Expand the Salesforce ecosystem by integrating advanced AI and machine learning capabilities to provide predictive analytics and smarter decision-making tools for business users.

  • Lead a cross-functional initiative to enhance data governance, quality, and security practices within the Salesforce environment, ensuring full compliance with global data protection regulations.

  • Contribute to a sustainable, organization-wide Salesforce enablement and competency center, providing ongoing education, certification opportunities, and best practice sharing to enhance the skills of all Salesforce users and developers.

  • Spearhead the adoption of new Salesforce products, impactful system integrations and technologies that align with the company’s strategic goals, ensuring a competitive edge in the marketplace.

  • Cultivate a culture of innovation within the Business Systems team, encouraging experimentation with new technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

  • Establish the Salesforce platform as a critical tool for customer engagement and business intelligence, demonstrating clear business value through data-driven insights and actions.
