PromptQL Senior/Staff Engineer

We're looking for a staff engineer to be a part of the core PromptQL team at Hasura (https://promptql.hasura.io).
PromptQL is redefining how AI systems should access data in a business context with an emphasis on visibility, steer-ability, and repeatability.
Building on the foundation of Hasura's Data Delivery Network (DDN), PromptQL is going to be a major focus for Hasura in 2025. As part of a small, high-impact team working directly with Hasura leadership, you’ll help shape the product direction and deliver core functionality across AI, data, and infrastructure layers.
What the role will involve:
- Drive Product Direction: Analyze AI + data landscape to influence the evolution of PromptQL.
- Define Features: Translate feedback from sales and GTM teams into actionable product features.
- Build the Core Stack: Rapidly design and implement features across the PromptQL AI assistant, the PromptQL data engine, and the PromptQL runtime infrastructure.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Ability to understand and work across complex systems end-to-end.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles and adaptability across domains.
- A strong sense of ownership and comfort working in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Nice to have:
- While experience working with LLMs is a big plus, we value strong foundational skills and the ability to learn quickly
Location:
You can work remotely from select states in the US or in our office in San Francisco.
Compensation:
The compensation for this role ranges from $200,000 - $285,000 (including bonus) plus ESOPs.
