SRE/Platform Engineer
Department: Engineering
Location: San Francisco / Remote (US)
About the team
We're a diverse group of engineers who thrive on tackling complex challenges, from optimizing our cloud infrastructure to creating intuitive developer platforms to building AI agents that automate day to day operations tasks. Our work directly impacts every part of the company, from the speed of new feature development to the reliability of our services. We collaborate closely with all engineering teams, providing them with the stable and scalable foundation they need to turn great ideas into reality.
About the role
We’re hiring a Platform Engineer to join our growing team at PromptQL. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining our entire cloud infrastructure with the goal of making it simple for all our engineering teams to get their ideas into the hands of our customers quickly and reliably. You'll be a key part of a team of full-stack engineers who build primitives, workflows, and systems that other teams use to deploy and manage their services in production. You'll be the expert everyone consults to ensure our services are scalable and operating reliably.
We see our work as software engineering, not just operations. We leverage our own AI agents, built with PromptQL, to automate routine tasks like production releases and incident response, allowing us to focus on building state-of-the-art multi-cloud infrastructure. You'll use tools like Pulumi and Terraform to manage resources across AWS, GCP, and Azure, building a robust platform that works both on our own cloud accounts and our customers' accounts (BYOC). You'll also work closely with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, ClickHouse, and Honeycomb to build the pipelines and dashboards that help us analyze and respond to production behavior.
This is a unique opportunity for an A+ talent to have a massive impact. You won't just be managing infrastructure; you'll be building a platform that enables the entire company. You'll also get to act as a Forward Deployed Engineer, working directly with customers to install and manage PromptQL in their environments. This will give you invaluable insights that you can use to improve our product, making this a truly impactful role for a high-performing engineer who wants to solve complex, real-world challenges.
Role Requirements
Must haves:
- You're an experienced engineer. You have 3+ years of experience working as a Platform, SRE, or DevOps Engineer.
- You're a cloud expert. You have hands-on experience building and maintaining infrastructure in at least one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure). You're also experienced with using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi to manage cloud resources.
- You have strong programming skills. You're proficient in at least one programming language like Python, Go, or Rust. And this is not just scripting — you've actually built services using these languages.
- You care about reliability. You have experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb, or ClickHouse and you're comfortable with building monitoring pipelines, dashboards, and alerts.
- You're a great communicator. You have excellent communication skills and you're comfortable working directly with customers to help them deploy and manage software in their environments.
What will help you thrive here:
- You enjoy working across the full lifecycle — from building greenfield systems to improving and maintaining existing ones.
- You thrive in collaborative environments and get energy from working closely with other engineering teams and external customers.
- You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats and stepping into areas outside of narrowly defined responsibilities.
- You’re excited about AI and automation — building and working with AI agents is a core part of how we operate.
- You prefer fast-moving, dynamic environments where priorities can shift and ambiguity is part of the challenge.
- You’re comfortable taking ownership of production systems and participating in on-call rotations.
- You see value in working across multiple cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and want to deepen your expertise in multi-cloud infrastructure.
Bonus points:
You are excited about leveraging AI agents and automation to eliminate toil and manual operations work.
You've worked with Hasura/DDN previously.
- You are comfortable working directly with external customers to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure smooth deployments.
Location & Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to customer sites to help with installation etc.
Compensation
- $150,000 to $250,000

To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
