About You:

You possess high levels of technical talent, test automation skills, people management skills and a keen desire to deeply understand our product and its quality needs. You have honed your technical skills through years of testing web-based products, then figured out how to make the jump over to building teams. You’re passionate about mentoring test engineers and helping them grow. You are a collaborative and motivated self-starter, ready to roll up your sleeves and dive right in and lead from the front.

  • You have deep experience with QA and software engineering best practices
  • You like to solve problems and drive process improvement with a strong quality mindset
  • You are meticulously detailed and organized
  • You are eager to figure out why things are broken and turn your learnings into improved processes
  • You enjoy collaborating with different engineering teams to stay on top of new features and figure out how best to test them

What skills do I need?

  • 3+ years testing or developing SaaS or web products
  • Ideally 2+ years leading a software test team
  • We don't require experience with any specific technologies, but we currently use React, Redux, NodeJS, Golang, Elixir, Electron, MongoDB, Postgres
  • Experience building automated tests through skillful adaptation of open-source technologies, balanced with targeted manual QA efforts
  • Experience structuring test frameworks with an eye towards reusability; ability to discuss the strengths and drawbacks of common testing frameworks (karma, protractor, behave, selenium, rspec) based on personal, in-depth experience
  • Understanding of when a situation calls for a quick script to glue it all together and comfort creating it in bash, nodejs, python or similar
  • Ability to develop stable automation and integrate it into CI/CD pipelines
  • Some experience with CI/CD configuration and tools preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and build the technical strategy for test automation at Tulip
  • Lead and mentor a team of test automation engineers
  • Build a diverse team while encouraging a collaborative and encouraging environment
  • Manage a team through agile processes and procedures
  • Provide technical design insight as well as solution architecture planning
  • Work with other engineering leadership to align on priorities
